One of the best times of the day here at shofar is that time early in the morning when the house is still quiet and the world outside is still calm. Everyone gets up in monastic style and has their morning coffee and devotions. It won't be long before chaos ensues and we are all flung into the problems and the noise of the day..so until then, it is wonderful to have a few minutes of peace.
We spent the last two days in the city...with all of its craziness, smog, and traffic. It can be exhausting. But ministry opportunities do not all present themselves up here in the calm of the mountains. Sometimes one must 'jump in', so to speak. Please keep praying for us...We need to know you are all there.

Looking for Ben...

We survived the youth camp and for the most part 'all went well.' Everyone was totally blessed and we certainly had a good time ! We are battling the usual 'fires'... Our jeepney is broke down and is in the shop...that one literally was a fire...water problems here at the shofar mission center, the heat, alarm issues, etc. But hey, it IS the Philippines, after all! Everyone remains in good spirits... Especially when we are chasing giant spiders and harassing big geckos while everyone screams.

Ben has been a bit of an issue though...some kidnappers sent us this grainy photo. It looks like maybe he's in trouble. And the local goats we have discovered are calling his name...you just have to listen close...

Ben and Sash has passed their first leadership exam here in the Philippines by driving nearly 8 hours yesterday on a motorcycle through hellish traffic, intense smog, wayward pedestrians, goats, dogs, and all sorts of various island hazards...some of it in the dark no less...and they lived to tell the story. Less for wear and tear, yes, but mostly just sunburn and sore butts. Congratulations School of Ministry graduates! The rest of you current students, consider this ample warning...

Arrived safe and sound in Hawaii..er, I mean the PHILIPPINES!

Hey everyone! We are alive and well over here. Thanks for your prayers! We made it ok to Shofar and we're getting the place opened up and aired out. Seems like the place faired well over the past year. Ben is alittle concerned about possible sabotage...it seems that maybe someone has been messing with our instant coffee packets...
